It's the day after the Fourth of July and the fireworks are done. Flags that hung high for the weekend are being taken down and folded away all over town.

But we can still today, and every day, celebrate our freedom.

I like to remind my daughter (who is almost eight) just how blessed and lucky we are to be women born in this country, in these United States of America. In many places of our world, women are still viewed as mere chattel to be bartered and sold.

As women in the USA, we are free to learn, to vote, to choose to marry or to remain single, to pursue a career or motherhood or some combination of the two. We are free to read any darn book we like and can usually find those books in our local library for free. We are free to worship as we please.

No matter what your politics, no matter whether you vote Republican or Democrat or none of the above, I hope you share the same respect and awe for the freedoms that we Americans are privileged to enjoy as our citizen birthrights.

Happy Fourth of July, all!

Time to announce the winners of the Ivarest Summer Survival Kits!

Thank you to everyone who entered; you guys have some awful Poison Ivy stories. I think Stephanie @ Clear Shining After Rain had the worst story:

When I was a senior in high school, my friends and I rode our bikes to a park. Someone had a campfire, and the smoke blew my way. Worst.Case.Of.Poison.Ivy known to man, all over my face, just by passing through the smoke. I had to get a cortisone shot when my eyes started swelling shut.

I think we're all wincing at that story! I know my dad had a terrible case of Poison Ivy when he was a teenager that he contracted the same way - by smoke from a neighbor's brush pile fire. Be careful about what you burn!

Onto our winners!

GRAND PRIZE WINNER

(Will receive an Ivarest Summer Survival Kit as well as a $10.00 gift card to their choice of either Target, Walmart, or Kroger)

#5: News Around the Blogs

WINNERS

(Will receive an Ivarest Summer Survival Kit)

#11: Courtney @ The Art of Being Mom

#2: Helen

Congrats to the winners! I'll be getting in touch with you by email soon!
