Ok, so I will be the first to admit that I've been watching the busy month of May come to an end with a bit of worry and fear. Summer, my friends, is just around the corner, and that means all three of my blue-eyed cutie pies (rather than just my little guy) will be home all.day.long.

Do I love them all in that over-the-top way that only a mother can love her children? Oh yes I do.

What I don't love - especially when it comes to summer - is:

~ My oldest's son's habit of waking up bright and early every single morning; he's up before 6:30 am every darn day, winter or summer.

~ Late afternoon sibling squabbling; everyone gets the contagious grumpies right as I'm trying to get dinner together.

~ Hot days and sunburn; rainy days and boooored kids.

When I was a kid, summer meant freedom from routine. Now that I'm the mom, I see how important keeping a simple routine through the summer break is.

But for all my kvetching about the extra challenges that come with summer, I *am* looking forward to this one. My little guy has been potty trained for a long time, meaning no more worrying about having swim diapers for the pool. My daughter is an avid reader and has found several series of books she wants to check out of the library. And my oldest son is and always has been so self-directed that all I need to do to keep him busy is give him a pack of index cards ($0.44 at Target!), a pack of markers, and a stapler.

My kids have changed and grown so much this year and I know that this summer will be different and better because of that simple fact. They can each do more and what's best, they choose to do more things together.

Seeing them playing together and looking out for each other is my blessed moment for me this week; what's yours?

I hope you feel blessed in some way - small or great - this week. If you'd like to share a post about what's good in your life, feel free to add your post link to the Mr. Linky below.
