CVS & Walgreens: Changes to Rebate Programs

Well, if you haven't heard the news, let me be the first to break it to you:

Walgreens has ENDED the monthly Easy Saver Rebate book.

It's a bummer, but there's still many ways to save at Walgreens, most notably through their Register Rewards offered on items.

I will be revising my How To Save at Walgreens post when I have a bit of free time; until then, you can read about how to save big at Walgreens right here.

It's bad enough that we devoted couponers have lost the ESR program at Walgreens. Now I fear the same may be happening with the monthly Extra Care Book program at CVS.

This month, the May ECB (and it's not titled as an ECB book anymore) book for CVS is filled with...clipless coupon deals. That's just about it -- just extra savings on products with only (2) ECB earners on V-8 juices (as far as I could see in the ad scan).

Click here to view the CVS May Clip Free Savings Book (notice how they dropped the Extra Care book name).

Times are tighter not just for us consumers, but for retailers as well.; it's not surprising to see these programs dwindle and disappear. You can still save a lot of money with coupons, but you'll need to be more diligent and willing to work a little more to plan your shopping trips.

Are you finding it harder and harder to get great deals with coupons in your stores? Share your story!
