This week's Hip Hip Hurray Giveaway is going up a day late - apologies, all. We've been super-busy with Girl Scout camp and baseball this week, both of which mean LOADS of extra-grubby laundry for yours truly.
I'm so pleased to be able to offer a chance for (1) lucky reader to win one of these:

Protect-A-Bed has generously offered (1) Premium Mattress Protector in your choice of size as this week's prize; they also sent me one to review: thanks so much, Protect-A-Bed!
I actually requested a twin sized one to review for my oldest son's bed. He's six, and is one super-sweet boy (aren't they all?) and has a face full of freckles. He also has asthma, something we discovered the worst way possible last November when he had his very first asthma attack, one so bad that he was hospitalized. The doctors were quite worried about him until he started to turn the corner.
Thank God he rebounded well; the first thing I did when we brought him home was make an appointment with a specialist who treats pediatric asthma and allergies. After the not-so-fun prick test, the doctor told me he was allergic to mold. Just prior to his asthma attack, he had been playing in the fall leaf piles in our yard so we were able to finally figure out what had triggered the attack.
But we're still vigilant about his potential exposure to allergens which is why I really like Protect-A-Bed Mattress Protectors. (and their Pillow Protectors, too). One of the key places that allergens can collect indoors is in bedding and when you think about just how much time we spend in our beds, you start to see why anything you can do to decrease exposure to allergens in bed is a good idea.
Protect-A-Bed's Premium Mattress Protectors are also an effective barrier against the icky spread of bed bugs. Yup, those little nasty biters are spreading across highly populated areas and are truly a nightmare to get rid of once they take up residence. If you've got questions about bedbugs, Protect-A-Bed is sponsoring a Q&A on Twitter next Tuesday, June 23, 2 p.m. EST with entomologists Rick Cooper and Jeff White, the experts behind BedBugCentral.com.
To participate, follow@Protect_A_Bed; just remember when you submit your questions on Tuesday, 6/23, to include the hash tag #PAB when you tweet it.
Everyone who participates in the Twitter Q&A on June 23 will be entered into a random drawing to win one of three giveaways, each featuring a Protect-A-Bed mattress encasement and a set of our pillow protector; this is a completely separate and different giveaway than the one I'm running here, so you have more chances to win! Hurray!
How to enter:
Let's make this a fun entry!
Leave a comment telling us all what your favorite childhood bedding (sheets/comforter) set was; I'll start us off by telling you mine: a set of Bert and Ernie sheets. My poor mom washed those sheets so much that their faces just about faded away - I didn't care; I just loved falling asleep with my Sesame Street friends!
You can earn an additional (3) chances to win as well.
1. Tweet about this giveaway then come back here and leave me a separate comment to let me know you tweeted.
2. Post about this giveaway at your blog with a link both to this post; come back and leave the URL of your post in a separate comment.
3. Subscribe to my RSS feed by reader or email and leave a separate comment to let me know you're a new subscriber; you can also drop me a separate comment to let me know if you're already a subscriber for this extra entry.
Remember, you must leave me some way to find you online (by email or by your Twitter handle) if you don't have a blog. Entries with no contact information or means of contacting you online will be disqualified.
This giveaway will end on Tuesday, June 23, at 10:00 pm EST . I will announce the winner (selected by Random.org) on Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
Good luck!
