You can view the ad matchup for this week at Kroger (it's an awesome Mega Event week!) right here (thanks to Andrea at MommySnacks!).
My Kroger trip, Monday, October 26, 2009:

Spent: $30.21
Saved: $92.99, or 75%
On the left side of the table are my Mega Event sale purchases. This is my *favorite* kind of Mega Event sale because there are a wide variety of items with coupon matchups. That makes it a perfect stockpiling opportunity!
Note that this sale is a 2 week event, ending November 8, 2009. That gives you plenty of time to order coupons from a coupon clipping service like this one or this one if you see items in the sale that are worth stockpiling for your family.
Also, be aware that there are several items included in this event that are not featured in this week's ad. One I found that I was thrilled to see were the Bumblebee Tuna Pouches. These are $0.99 on sale and then $0.49 after the Mega Event discount of $0.50/item. If you have any of the $0.50/1 printable coupons from SmartSource.com (the link looks to be gone or dead), you can get them FREE or to get $0.51 overage if you Kroger doubles. WOOT!
I also found some peelies for Fritos above the product, B2G1FREE! With the Mega Event prices, I paid only $1.00 ea for the three bags after the coupon. Be sure to look for that peelie at your Kroger.
AND, one last thing. Kroger has a special sale TODAY, Tuesday 10/27, from 12pm - 7pm, with great deals on Halloween candy. You can match those sale prices up with coupons to fill your treat bucket for pennies!
Snickers, Milky Way, Starburst, 8.7-11.4 oz, $1.48 ea (limit 10)
-->$1.00/2 Mars Candy Bags, RP 09/11 and RP 10/11
Final price: $0.98 ea!
Butterfinger, Nestle Crunch, Baby Ruth, Laffy Taffy, Nerds, or Wonka Mixups, 9.5 -12.5 oz, $1.48 ea (limit 10)
-->$1.00/2, RP 10/18
Final price: $0.98 ea!

How did you know your Kroger was having a special Halloween candy sale? Is it marked in the store too so I will know?
ReplyDeleteSarah: There was a flap on the front of my printed Kroger ad this week advertising today's (10/27) one day sale.
ReplyDeleteThis is something my Kroger does every year - along with the one day sale from 12-7pm on Tuesday today, they're offering free activities for the kids in-store. I'm in the Cincinnati area; I don't know if all regions do this.
Hope that helps!
Wow - you got some amazing deals. I can't wait to head over to Kroger I have been getting my list and coupons together.
ReplyDeleteHi, you did great at kroger.
ReplyDeleteI have a Kroger in town but I've never "couponed" there before. Do you mind if I ask a few questions?
I looked in the ad and there's a lot of stuff not mentioned that I've seen other people buy (by looking through blogs, anyway). Like the playtex gloves? It's not mentioned in my ad but I see people have bought them. Also, surf & snuggle? Do you think they are on sale at my store, too?
Hmm. Thanks!
One more question - can I buy 20 items in 1 transaction and have them take 10 dollars off? Or should I separate my transactions? Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteAnon: I'm so glad you asked. Kroger is a GREAT store to shop with coupons because:
ReplyDelete1. They allow unlimited coupons; and,
2. Kroger doubles coupons to a maximum doubled value of $1.00 (coupons $0.50-$0.99 double to $1.00 face value).
For this week's 10 Item Mega Event (which runs through November 8, 2009), there are SEVERAL items that are included in the event that are NOT in the ad. If you're looking for the best coupon matchups for this sale event, check out:
Kroger ad matchup 10/26 @MommySnacks.com
Unadvertised Mega Event items @MommySnacks.com
Unadvertised Mega Event items @StretchingABuck
Those items should also be on sale at your Kroger as well; you'll see the Mega Event sale tags on the shelves.
As for how many items you can buy per transaction, some Mega Event sales do have a limit of (2) or (3) rewards per transaction (meaning 20 or 30 particpating items). This Mega Event does NOT so you can get all your deals in one big transaction.
All your participating items on your receipt will be noted with a plus sign to the right of the item that looks like this:
(+)
That way you can easily scan your receipt and make sure all your participating items were included.
I hope this helps and feel free to ask questions! Even if I can't get in here to answer, hopefully another reader will chime in with their experience/knowledge. ;-)
Have a great day!
