My Bigg's Triple/Double Trip 10/2/09 - OUTSTANDING! {Saved 83%}

If you haven't heard the news yet, Bigg's is having a HUGE birthday bash event this weekend, 10/2/09- 10/5/09!

Can we all sing "Happy Triple Double Coupons Day" together? ;-)

I made my way down to the Bigg's closest to me (Mason-Montgomery Rd) this morning after dropping my two oldest off at school. When I arrived at 9 am, the store was well-stocked and just a few of us crazy smart couponers were there filling up our carts. By the time I left at 11:30, the aisles were packed with deal seekers.

Everyone - the Bigg's staff and the other shoppers - was wonderful this morning. There was definitely a sense of camaraderie among us shoppers; it was funny to see the carts because just about every cart seat held either a coupon binder, a coupon box, or a stack of coupon envelopes! Normally, I'm the only hardcore couponer in the store (Kroger) so it was fun to be among like-minded shoppers.

My Bigg's trip, 10/02/09:

Spent: $27.44
Saved: $137.30 or 83%

I took our big cooler with me in my van so I could stow my cold/frozen items and make a second trip through the store with my extra coupons (the triple/double event states that only two of the same coupon will be tripled or double per transaction). The second trip through was quick, just a handful of items, and I was on my way before lunchtime.

A sale like this is a rarity and I encourage all of you who have thought about couponing to give it a try this weekend at Bigg's. You can get a big bang for your buck and stock up on many items for your family. It does require some effort on your part to get your coupons organized and ready for your shopping trip, but it is well worth the time invested.
