Menu Plan Monday | Week 2 of My 5 Week Menu Plan {Revised}

I plan my family's dinners in five week blocks to maximize my savings at the grocery store and minimize my stress at dinner time. You can read more about my strategy here in my Q&A post here.

I can't believe I forgot the upcoming Lenten season when I made my new 5 Week Menu Plan last week.

Our family is Catholic so during Lent we don't eat any meat on Fridays; usually, we head over to the Fish Fry Dinner at our church. If you're native to or currently live in the greater Cincinnati area, you probably are very familiar with the big tradition of parish Fish Fry Dinners during Lent.

We also abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday (2/17) and fast as well on that day.

I've revised my meal plan for this week to reflect the start of Lent; here's what I've planned:


Brats, Grinny Beans


Taco Night!


Grilled Cheese & Soup


Cincinnati Chili


Fish Fry!


Monte Cristo Sandwiches + Fruit Salad
(I'm looking forward to trying these sandwiches!)


Cranberry Roast Pork, Wild Rice, 3 Bean Salad

And if you're wondering what I give up during Lent, I always give up sugar in all of it's glorious and delicious forms. I'm also considering doing a bit of a Lenten fast when it comes to my time online; I think it would be good way for me to focus on being more efficient when I am online. I also know there's just something liberating about turning your computer and phone off and just walking away from them.
