Money Smarts | HouseParty.com

Every Friday, I share one way I either save or earn money in my own life in the hopes that it might be useful to you.

This week, I want to share HouseParty with you.

If you haven't heard of HouseParty, the concept is simple: companies want to get their products in front of their customers; you want to get together with your friends without spending an arm and a leg on party supplies.

To become a party host or hostess, you first have to create an account here.  Once you've done that, you can apply to host a sponsored party where you'll share FREE products with your friends.  If picked, you can post about the fun you're planning for your party and pictures and video of the party at your HouseParty account.

I've actually been picked to host my first House Party and I'm excited that not only will I have the chance to get my Blog*Star friends under one roof for a good time, I'll have some nice freebies for them, too.

Here are some of the current parties that are accepting applications at HouseParty:

:: Ziplok DIY Home Organization House Party

::  Kraft Foods First Taste House Party

:: GreenWorks Kids Gear Swap House Party

There are several more as well; you can view the available parties here.

Why am I sharing this with you?  Because we all need time with our friends, time to just hang out and have fun.  But the cost of hosting a small party can become a real obstacle if your budget is tight.  The HouseParty concept gives you the chance to be the hostess with the mostest without breaking the bank.

Have you hosted a HouseParty yet?  What did you think  - like it or leave it?  Please share your experiences in a comment below. ;-)

Thanks for reading and subscribing to The New Frugal Mom!

  1. I love HouseParty. I have done several parties and love trying out new things and being able to have an excuse to throw a party. The good thing is, a lot of the companies will also send paper plates and napkins along with deeply discounted (or FREE) coupons, so it helps when we are on a budget. I am doing the Pull-Ups HouseParty next and am very excited!

  2. I have hosted a HouseParty also. I loved it. My family loved it too. It is fun to actually have a party and focus your attention on something you may already be using. It takes that product to a different level. I am also hosting a party this week too for Zatarain's!
