Money Smarts | Buy and Sell Your Kids Sports Equipment at Play It Again Sports

Every Friday, I share one way I either save or earn money in my own life in the hopes that it might be useful to you.

Spring is HERE!

While I love springtime in SW Ohio (it's ever so pretty), the beginning of spring brings the beginning of softball for my daughter and t-ball for my older son (who will be playing full-on baseball next year). And that means it's time for new-to-us baseball cleats for my older two.

Because I am ever the frugal and practical mom, my first choice for getting cleats for my kiddos is to drop by our local Play It Again Sports store.

I brought my daughter's old cleats from last spring (pink and black, so no-go for handing them down to her brother) and got a store credit for selling them. I used that store credit toward buying two pairs of very nice, barely worn cleats for a grand total of $9.50 cash. Can I get a WOOT?!

As my kids get older, I'll be more willing to invest $$ in their sports gear should they still be playing whatever (we are a sports nuts kinda family). But while they're young - and growing like weeds - it's nice to be able to get them what they need without breaking the bank.

I'm also a big believer in cruising eBay for gently used or deeply discounted new with tags sporting goods for our kids as well as for ourselves. And I also love just passing things on to other families as well. I know many kids athletic organizations have uniform and equipment exchanges to keep costs reasonable for parents, too.

Do you have a money saving tip on saving on sporting goods for kids?
