Couponing for Community | Giving Back

Just a reminder, this week is the big push for Couponing for Community - if your stockpile overfloweth with toothpaste, Betty Crocker Potatoes, and canned diced tomatoes (or is that just me?!), take a few minutes to put together a bag or two of what you can spare and give it to someone in need.

But where to give?

:: Local foodbanks are in greater need than ever; find the one closest to you here.

:: Local churches often have their own food pantry or have a list of families in need and would be happy to help find a home for your extras.

:: Local school districts run programs like this one in my town which sends backpacks of food home with kids in need who might go hungry over the weekend otherwise; I'm betting your school district has a progam like this one, too - just ask.

:: Women's crisis shelters and homeless shelters often need toiletries and baby items if you've got extras.

:: Look around - do you know a family in need? So many people in the tri-state area are dealing with job losses and foreclosures - you might be able to bless someone you already know.

You can read more about Couponing for Community right here; remember that you can post about what you've done this week and add your post to the link up here on Saturday, May 8th.

I'll be donating with the National Stamp Out Hunger Day on May 8th with the US Postal Service - another easy way to give back.

Thanks, Cha-Ching on a Shoestring for organizing this event!
