What I Saved at the Stores {Week 22 of 2010}

Each Saturday, I detail what I spent and saved at the stores; this weekly post is my way of keeping myself on track for my weekly budget goals in 2010.

I hope that by sharing what I saved, you'll be inspired to keep couponing week in and week out.  Over time, your stockpile of high-use items for your family will grow and your total weekly bill will keep coming down, down, down!

Week 22 (May 31-June 6)

There were some great deals to be found this week at Walgreens (see here for the Wags matchups) & Target (and here for several of the deals I grabbed there).

I hope you had luck in finding the hot freebie items this week; I got a few of them but missed a few, too -- oh well! That'll teach me to wait until the end of the week! 8-)

Kroger, 5/31

Spent: $44.34
Saved: $29.63 (40%)
Read about the coupons I used at my weekly Let's Go Krogering! post.

Aldi 6/1

Spent: $12.22
Saved: $0.00
(Popsicles for one of my children's classes!)

Walgreens 6/3

Spent: $4.44 + $8 RR
Saved: $18.00 (80%)
(We use lots of sunscreen!)

Another trip to Aldi 6/4

Spent: $5.57
Saved: $0.00
(My kiddos want apple pie!)

Target 6/4

Spent: $10.49
Saved: $22.00 (68%)
(Awesome gift card deal on the cereal!)

Weekly Totals (Week 22):

Spent: $77.06
Saved: $69.63 (47%)

My weekly budget target is $80/week and I am on track which is awesome since I was able to stockpile some cereal as well as grab some useful non-grocery items at Target (the beach towel was $2.50 in the Dollar Spot and the Coleman Poncho  - a needed item for camp - was $1.37).

School ends on Wednesday for my older two and I anticipate some snacking challenges ahead this summer.  I'm hoping to combat their bottomless munchies with some healthy alternative recipes (like these brownies my friend Erin made with black bean puree -- they look GOOD!); I need to spend some time hopping through the cooking blogs I follow as well as searching my fave recipe sites for ideas.  I still want to come under budget for June so wish me luck!

If you're new to the fabulous world of keeping more of your hard earned money in your pockets by strategic couponing and drugstore shopping, I encourage you to read these posts to help you get started.
