Let's Go Krogering! | Week of April 11, 2011 {HOT! Buy (4) Participating GM Cereal/Cereal Bars, get $5 Kroger Gift Card!}

Wondering what's the deal with my weekly Let's Go Krogering! (LGK!) posts?

This week, Kroger is running a special sale on GM Cereals/Cereal Bars/Snack Mixes: buy 4 participating products at $2.79 ea, get a $5.00 Kroger Gift Card at checkout to use toward your next purchase (limit 1 per transaction).

Not all of the GM Cereals are included.  These were the brands of cereal I saw tagged for this sale (there may be more; I shop early on Monday morning and all of the brands may not have been tagged yet):

Original Cheerios
Honey Nut Cheerios
Wheat Chex
Honey Nut Chex
Total Whole Grain Omega 3
Golden Grahams

I should also note that several other GM Cereals were tagged for this sale but they were NOT at the $2.79 price.  There were big boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch tagged for -- if my memory serves me correctly - $5.99/box.  Even with a doubled coupon to reduce that cost to $4.99 and the promise of a $5 gift card for buying (4) items, that is NOT a deal in my book.  ;-)  Shop wisely!

My Kroger Trip #1, Monday, April 11, 2011
(With apologies for yet *another* blurry photo!)

Spent: $47.31
Saved: $51.15 (52%)
Earned: $5.00 Kroger Gift Card

I also made a quick swing through Kroger on my way out to school pickup yesterday afternoon. We are *gasp* out of Kool Aid packets - a fact that I realized on Sunday afternoon when the temperature here hit 85 and my kids were thirsty after playing outdoors. I also wanted to grab some popping corn (I've fallen in love with fresh-popped popcorn all over again).

While I was in store, I did my usual "cruising": I always walk past produce, bakery, meat, and dairy checking for any recent Manager Special markdowns on items we use. I lucked out - there were several packages of ground beef that had just been marked down so I grabbed a few of those for my freezer.

I also shopped at Aldi on Monday using my $5/$30 mailer coupon (good 1 time each of the 4 weeks of April) and grabbed lots of produce (strawberries for $1.50/lb and grapes for $0.99/lb), milk, flour, pantry items, and a spiral sliced ham for Easter for $1.49/lb (total was $12.34).  My final total at Aldi was $35.95; with all three trips combined I spent a total of $88.69, a bit above my $80/week goal.

I'm ok with that since I've got the Easter ham sitting in my freezer - one less thing to worry about.  ;-)
