Coffee & Clicks | January 28, 2012 {Edition #27: Knitting, #Ashamed, and Chili!}

Welcome to Coffee & Clicks, my weekly roundup of posts from my Google Reader and beyond that captured my attention.

If you find a few minutes to click around this weekend while you sip your coffee (or whatever fills your mug), wander through these posts and enjoy reading, reflecting, and relaxing.

:: I've been a knitting fool lately. Too bad I'm as slow as molasses! I'm about halfway done the scarf I started for my daughter last winter - a scarf that I started, stopped, started, stopped, then finally unwound and balled up the yarn when I realized I had somehow gone from twenty stitches wide to about thirty stitches wide. For most of the summer, I ignored my yarn bag; then this fall came, and I decided to try again. This time, I'm counting stitches and it's actually looking like - well, a scarf!

I used the videos on YouTube by Knit Witch to learn the basics of knitting. If you're intimidated by needles and yarn or crafts in general, but have always wanted to give it a try, I highly recommend Knit Witch's videos.

:: All I can say about this post {#Ashamed: Mom Bloggers Fight Back Against Georgia's Fat-Shaming Ad Campaign} at 5 Minutes for Mom taking on the state of Georgia's ad campaign for fighting childhood obesity is wow. That, and good on ya, mom bloggers for standing up for the kids. As much as I fear for the future health of children saddled with obesity in their youth, shaming the child isn't the solution.

Have a wonderful weekend!
