Anon: I am a file by insert couponer myself; I generate my shopping list based on the current ad matchups/coupons available and clip what I need for my trips.

There are times when I see something for which I know I have a coupon at home. In the case of the Mega Event Sales at Kroger (like this week, 1/25/10), since they run (2) weeks I know I can grab the missed deal the following week.

When the sale isn't a Mega Event and I'm pretty certain that I might miss out on a chance to stockpile something we use regularly, I'll make a second trip to Kroger that week. I should note that I live in a fairly small town and it's not out of my way to swing through our Kroger as I'm out and about.

And I should also add that I've never tried to get EVERY deal every week - you could spend all your time matching ads and dashing to the stores if you tried to do that. Once you have a good idea of what you/your family uses regularly and what would be worth stockpiling for you/your family, you'll be able to better decide if that second trip is needed.

I am struggling to find an organization system that works for me. I keep reading about filing by insert and date and NOT clipping up the inserts as soon as they come, but what happens when you find an unadvertised deal and just know you have a coupon for it? What about one of those mini files to carry with you? I am so paranoid to leave anything I might need at home! I was just in Krogers, and the best deals in the MEga Event were unadvertised ones.

Sarina: Everyone files/organizes their q's a bit differently. I know what works for me is the file by insert system. I use Hot Coupon World's coupon database to locate coupons I need when I'm making my list.

This is great! Very detailed and covers options that are maybe not covered with all the others out there :)

Right now I am struggling with the file monthly method and NO method of usage organization. I really need to fix that this year.
